What’s the blocklist and how does it differ from unsubscribers?
The blocklist is a sender-side safeguard. When you add an email address (or an entire domain) to your blocklist, Mailmeteor will never send campaigns to it, even if the address appears in a spreadsheet, segment, or automated workflow.
By contrast, unsubscribers is recipient-driven: people add themselves to that list by clicking Unsubscribe in a campaign.
Feature | Who takes the action? | Typical use case |
---|---|---|
Blocklist | You (the sender) | Manually remove a contact without using the unsubscribe link |
Unsubscribers | Recipient | The contact opted out via the unsubscribe link |
Why would I use a blocklist?
- Prevent accidental sends to executives, internal testing accounts, or no-reply addresses.
- Comply with one-off opt-out requests from customers who wrote “please stop emailing me” rather than clicking Unsubscribe.
- Exclude role-based or catch-all addresses (e.g.,
support@
,info@
) that can hurt deliverability.
Add an address to the blocklist
- Sign in to your Mailmeteor Dashboard.
- In the left-hand menu, click Contacts > Blocklist.
- Hit Acionts > Import contacts.
- Confirm. Mailmeteor will immediately stop queuing messages to that address.
Remove (unblock) an address
- Open the blocklist in the Dashboard.
- Find the contact (use the search bar if needed) and click it.
- Choose Actions > Remove from blocklist. The address can now receive future campaigns (unless it’s also on the unsubscribers list).
Good to know
- Entries on the blocklist don’t count toward your contact limit.
- Keep your blocklist lean: every address you block is a contact you can’t reach.
