How to comply with tracking consent regulations?
By default, Mailmeteor tracks opens and clicks for every contact you send to. Recipients can opt out at any time from the manage preferences page, and some countries’ regulations may require you to ask for consent before tracking. Mailmeteor gives you both:
-
Let recipients opt out (default). Add the
{{ manage_preferences }}variable anywhere in your email body. It’s replaced with a unique link to a manage preferences page, where recipients can turn off Email tracking for themselves. Once they turns off tracking, Mailmeteor stops adding a tracking pixel and personalized links to any future email you send them. Their contact profile also shows aDo Not Trackbadge. -
Require opt-in consent. If your local laws require consent upfront, turn on Require consent before tracking emails in your Tracking settings. With this setting on, Mailmeteor only tracks contacts who’ve explicitly granted consent, and automatically excludes anyone who opted out or hasn’t given consent yet.
You can see everyone who opted out of tracking from your contacts list, filtered by tracking preference.
Respecting these preferences helps you build trust with your audience and stay compliant with local regulations. Mailmeteor doesn’t provide legal advice, so check which rules apply to your recipients and enable the settings above accordingly.
