Hey there,
Pop quiz:
What is the ideal length for a cold email?
A) 50 words
B) 120 words
C) 300 words
If you guessed B, you’re spot on 🎉
According to a Lemlist study, cold emails with 120 words resulted in a 52% booking rate, compared to just 19% for emails over 300 words.
So, the shorter the better? Not really. Emails with less than 50 words had a booking rate of 40%, which is decent, but not great.
What’s the sweet spot? 🎯
Ideally, aim for 75-125 words. This range strikes the right balance between being concise, and providing value.
It’s long enough to include essential information. But short enough to keep your reader’s attention.
Why do shorter emails work?
1️⃣ People are busy A concise email shows you value their time.
2️⃣ Low attention spans Your prospects are less likely to get distracted.
3️⃣ Memorable message Short emails are easier to digest and remember.
So, when writing a cold email, try to trim 20%. Then read it aloud and see if you can cut another 20%. Make every word count.
