Hey there,
We’ve all been there:
You send a few emails. No response. You follow up. Try different angles. Maybe even add some humor. Still nothing.
At this point, it’s tempting to give up. Or worse, keep sending emails that may annoy your recipient (and get you flagged as spam).
But there’s a third way:
It’s called the “break-up” email. A last-chance message that often gets the highest response rates of your entire sequence.
Here’s a break-up email template that I like to use:
Hey [Name],
This is my last email, but I’d love to know the reason why you didn’t hop on a call with us?
A) Not a priority right now B) Let’s reconnect next quarter C) Already solved this another way D) Need another week or two
Just choose a letter (A, B, C, or D), and you’ll never hear from me again – unless you want me to :)
All the best,
[Your name]
Why does this work?
1️⃣ Fear of loss When people realize they might lose access to an opportunity, they’re more likely to take action.
2️⃣ Respect signal By showing you’re willing to walk away, you demonstrate professionalism and boost your credibility.
3️⃣ Low friction Responding requires minimal effort. This makes it incredibly easy for busy prospects to give you feedback
That’s it for today. Give this a try and let me know how it works for you!
Happy sending,
Laura
P.S. You can use Mailmeteor to automate your follow-ups and schedule your break-up email in just a few clicks.
