Get started

Mailmeteor offers an in-house email verification service that checks whether email addresses are valid or invalid. Our algorithm, nicknamed BounceShield, performs 10+ checks to determine an email address’s validity, including format validation, DNS configuration, and SMTP verification.

Mailmeteor BounceShield protects your email reputation.

Behind the scenes

BounceShield uses 10+ signals to detect valid and invalid email addresses. Signals can be grouped into four categories:

  • Format. Whether the email address has the correct format and is not gibberish.
  • Professional. The domain name is not associated with temporary services.
  • Domain status. The domain name is active and has valid MX records.
  • SMTP server. The mail server is reachable and confirms that the email address exists.

Using these signals, our in-house algorithm provides 99% accuracy in detecting email addresses.

The two ways to use BounceShield

There are two ways to verify email with Mailmeteor:

  1. For all users, BounceShield is available as a bulk email verification solution. You import a list of contacts and BounceShield verifies them. You can then export the results to send emails via Mailmeteor or another email platform. Learn more.
  2. For customers on a paid plan, BounceShield verifies all emails sent via the platform. When BounceShield detects an invalid email address, the email is not sent. This increases the deliverability of your emails without you even thinking about it. Learn more.
